Aladağlar National Park
Aladağlar form the central part of the Taurus Mountains that run through southern Türkiye, and this mountain range rises in the cities of Niğde, Kayseri, and Adana. The Mediterranean climate is seen on the southern slopes, where red pine, cedar, black pine, and Taurus fir are common, while a continental climate dominates the northern slopes of the Aladağlar, and steppe species belonging to the Iranian-Turanian plant community are common on these slopes.
The highest point of the Aladağlar, Kızılkaya, is 3,771 meters above sea level, while there are more than 50 peaks above 3,000 meters above sea level. The snow melting in the spring months creates many lakes in the Aladağlar, but most of these lakes evaporate and disappear in the summer. In the summer, only a few lakes fed by underground water remain in the Aladağlar. These lakes and the Kapuzbaşı Waterfall located within Kayseri province's borders are worth seeing.
On the Aladağlar, an area of approximately 55 hectares is located within the Aladağlar National Park, and there are dozens of different routes for nature walks within this national park. In addition to trekking routes that run parallel to the slopes, there are also steep routes leading to the summits. The most suitable months for nature walks in Aladağlar, which is quite cold in winter, are June, July, August, and September.
It is possible to find camping areas in different valleys of Aladağlar, where the temperature difference between day and night can exceed 30 degrees. The most well-known and most visited of these camping areas are Sarımemedin Yurdu, Sokullupınar, and Yedigöller.
