Adala Walking Route
Adala Volcanic Canyon
The Adala volcanic canyon known also as “Hermos Canyon” extends for 5km between the Demirköprü Dam and the Adala municipality of Salihli Town. This canyon was formed when the basaltic lavas of the Kaplan Divlit filled the valley which was cut by the Gediz River. This canyon is already a famous destination for outdoor sports such as biking, trekking, etc.
Suuçtu Waterfall
The Suuçtu Waterfall, located near the top of the Adala Volcanic Canyon, was formed by basaltic lava flow deposits from the Kaplan Volcanic Cone. Around 300 thousand years ago, lava flows erupted from the Kaplan Volcanic Cone and filled the Gediz Valley. The Gediz River then formed a new stream channel on these lava flows, deepening its channel as a result of regional tectonic uplift in the area. Around 25 thousand years ago, the Kaplan Volcanic Cone erupted again, and lava flows filled a part of the Gediz Valley. As a result, the Gediz River shifted to the north. The waterfall was formed on a 300-year-old basalt flow, and the headward erosion resulted in a steep fall.
Ladies Bridge
Kz Köprüsü (Ladies Bridge) is located 3 kilometers north of Adala Town on the Gediz (Hermos) River in the Adala Volcanic Canyon. The bridge was constructed during the Early Ottoman period. The bridge is 97 meters long, 11 meters high, and 3,5 meters wide, with six arches made from basaltic and gneiss rocks
The Kurşunlu Hot Springs:
Kurşunlu Hot Springs is one of the 15 most prominent geothermal areas in Turkey. These hot springs, which are located alongside the İzmir-Ankara highway, downstream of the Kursunlu stream, are a popular thermal tourism destination in western Turkey. As a result of the continued hot water extraction activities, practically all of the hot springs in the Kurşunlu Geothermal area have dried up. The ground surface temperatures of the water sources range from 42 to 55 degrees Celsius, while the water collected from the wells ranges from 51 to 114 degrees Celsius. The hot water from the wells is mostly used in the thermal resort and to heat buildings in the Salihli District. It is believed that the thermal water from these hot springs has anti-rheumatic properties.
