Abant Lake Nature Park
Abant Lake is located in the Mudurnu district of Bolu, on the Abant Mountain, at an altitude of approximately 1,350 meters, 2,5 hours from Ankara and İstanbul by car. There are various hills in the natural park that range in height from 1,400 meters to 1,700 meters.
The nature area in which the lake is located provides exceptional hiking opportunities. The routes in undisturbed nature, which are bordered by the green and towering trees of the Western Black Sea are surrounded by a rich flora. Scotch pine, larch, beech, oak, poplar, ash, hornbeam, and willow trees are surrounded by shrubs such as hazelnut, medlar, hawthorn, rosehip, blackberry, strawberry, mint, and raspberry. Lake Abant's shores are also brimming with aquatic plants and water lilies. An endemic Abant Crocus Abantensis blooms on the hillsides rising around the lake.
There are hotels, bungalows, camping and picnic areas around the lake. In other words, because of its location, Abant Lake Nature Park is a good choice for daily treks as well as multi-day treks.
